Iowa State Fair Winnings

I picked up my entries yesterday and these two won awards. The bottom one was a class that I took at one of the last Cross Stitch Festivals. This one is by Stoney Creek, the technique was filet and ribbon.

The top one won second place in multiple techniques. There is drawn thread, hardanger and pulled in this piece.

Not sure I will ever enter again but, I've learned never to say never. You just never know.

Retreat

The top picture here is of the beautiful banister and steps leading up to the dining room. The next is of the one of the dining rooms that is the biggest. The next two pictures are of a very long hall that leads from one section to another. You can get to most places just by taking this long hall.

Stitching rooms

Here are two of the main rooms that are full of stitchers. The top is called the Garden Room and the windows are all tall and looking over the lake. The bottom picture is of the room where all the gals from Iowa (including me) stitched. This room is called the Red Room

This is where I go to call hubby and just relax, this over looks the lake. As you can see there are rocky cliffs in the back as you walk down to the chairs.

August Hardanger Card

This is August's Hardanger Card. The fiber is a Threadworx color of maroon, pink and forest green. Very striking against the pink of the card. It's done early which is great. Got a retreat coming up and my favorite holiday, Halloween is coming. I hope to be doing some Halloween ornies again this year.

Christmas Humbug

I finished the Christmas Humbug that will be in the Victoria Sampler yahoogroup contest. It will be judged along with many others on the 1st of September. Always a good contes as there are many really great stitchers that bring some really creative ideas to the table. This is mine, I decided to go with roses instead of Poinsettias
