I just got January's ornie done from Nordic Needle's Hardanger Ornament club. I should be able to get caught up by the end of the month. I really love these ornaments and I will have to find something special to do with them come this Christmas.

I had a very busy weekend and I got caught up with some projects. This one, The Great Escape is now caught up. It's really starting to look cute. I can't wait until we start to work on the creatures and flowers.

This is the bigger or bottom of the ornament for December. I am so sorry about the blurred picture. My digital camera died and we got a much cheaper one, I guess you get what you pay for. Any how I am now starting January with February to go. Due to some health issues I didn't get a lot of stitching done on my Christmas Tree Etui. I decided I will catch up with these orniaments and go back and do another week with the Etui by Victoria Samplers. There is a possibility of a knee replacement for me in the very near future so, I will be getting a lot of stitching done if this happens.

This cutie was a chart that was given to me by Aj"Feisty Kay" Brokaw last year. I wrote her and told her that i would get it done by next March. I found the most irish material I've ever seen and that is what I made the pillow with. It is really cute and I thank Aj so much for the pattern. This was my weekend project

The finishing will be easy as all I have to do is cut it down so it will fit in the tuck pillow that came with the project. First WIP of 2012

I have made a couple of New Year Resolutions and my blog is one of them. I've decided this year that I will take pictures of my WIP's instead of just the finished project. I have picked some rather large projects and if I waited until they were done, it might be awhile before I posted. I have a rotation going with six projects and three weekend projects. This is my first project and it's new for this year, it's called Castles in the Air by Pappillon Creations. I love the colors that I have selected. I was going to do a red in place of the yellow but, when I put the yellow in I decided that went with the blues and greens a lot better. I hope you come back to see how I am doing with all nine projects through out this year.

Here is the October Ornament from the Nordic Needle Christmas Ornament Club all done. I'm almost caught up with what has been sent. These are so much fun and so pretty and lacy when done. I'm hanging them in a large door way where they can move with the currents in the house. They look like wind chimes without the chime.

I do think a smaller bow would have been better but, I had these premade ones and they were the ones I used. I got the material at JoAnn"s while I was waiting for something else. It's called winter wind and the name of the pattern is Winter Wood by Papillon Creations. Now I can get back to my last ornament for myself.

The center of this was in the Christmas ornament preview magazine and the bottom was in the Christmas Orniment Issue of this year. I belong to a yahoo group where one of the owners is a designer. This was the design that was just finished. If you look close there is an owl in the middle of the tree and a rabbit to the left of the tree's roots. Each section is a different stitch and this is all your own colors. Such a lot of fun, I will frame it this week.

Thought every one could use another flower to brighten up their day. This is a cactus that my mother-in-law gave me. This is the second time it has bloomed, the first time it was much smaller and yellow. Talk about a change, wonder what it will be the next time. Hope every one enjoys

Here is the first in a year of hardanger Christmas Ornaments through Nordic Needle. This is a wonderful club where they send you all the material and once a month they send you a new pattern. I know it doesn't show well but, this is actually two ornaments sewed together to make one. I could have left them as two but, decided they look a lot better together.

Eva Owl Finished

Yesterday, it rained all day and was very cold and windy. I decided it was a perfect day to finish Eva Owl into a wall hanging. Here she is, all done. I was able to get some very pretty quilted fabric and the patterend fabric is reversible to the red. The light green is almost a celery and it matches the light green in the patterend fabric. All in all I am very happy with the way it came out mostly because I don't even remotely consider myself a seemstress (I say awful things to my sewing machine). I will put together the dowel rod and ends and hang it this weekend.

This plant was given to me by a gal that my husband did some work for. It has the most beautiful orange and yellow flowers and the plant is a beautiful dark green. What a beautiful plant and, I've been looking on line for others and how to grow them. Since I've grown orchids successfully I should be able to grow this beauty and I am sure I will own others. English Garden

It's finally done!! I don't want to say that this was one of the most awful projects I've done in awhile but......my eyes have fallen out long ago. It came out beautiful and I'm very glad that I did it but, I will think twice before I do another 40 ct. silk gauze with so much back stitching. The actual stitching was not that bad, just the back stitching. I will be taking it to the framers to have it mounted and then I will bully my sweet hubby into making me a frame.

Spring better get here pretty quick. My dogs have become so restless they are willing to kill a fake (but pretty live looking) squirrel. My husband threw it outside and they all went nuts. I finally threw it into a snow bank to shut them up. OH SPRING WHERE ARE YOU!!!!

I decided because I am going to three retreats this year that I should make a nice name tag that I could wear at all of them. This is a Victoria Samper pattern and it is not only a name tag but, it's a pocket so you can put a room key or money or any thing small that you might need and not want to lose. Was a really quick stitch at only a week and the finish was really quick too.

Beasley

I have had Beasley for a couple of weeks now but I am just now getting around to posting a picture. This little guy is the brother of Sweeny whom you see in the back ground. Beasley is from a different litter but both dogs have the same parents. He 1/2 chihuahua and 1/4 rat and 1/4 fox terrier. I have never been able to see the Rat Terrier but, the Chihuahua and Fox Terrier are pretty visiable. Beasley turned 4 months today and isn't quite 3 lbs. I'm thinking he will be between Sweeny and Cricket (full Chihuahua).

This is December's Hardanger Card from Nordic Needle's Hardanger card of the month club. I must admit this one is probably my favorite. The colors are a real pretty pink and greenish grey. The pattern was fun and the whole card came out really nice. I had a lot of fun with all these cards and when Nordic Needle has another hardanger of the month that I like I will do it again. They are doing a bookmark of the month in 2011 and I'm not into bookmarks.

Scissor case and fob

This came as a kit (scissors not included) with ribbon, and beads. I have not done any beading like this and I enjoyed doing this. It was fairly simple and came out very nice. Now I won't lose my scissors at the next retreat or stitch-in.

This is my last ornament for this year. This one is for my daughter and I wanted to make it into a flat-fold but, I was in a hurry and didnt' read the instrustions so it turned out to be a door hanger. After thinking about it I'm glad I did it this way because she has more door knobs in her house then places to set things. This is from the Just Cross Stitch ornament issue this year.

I found a really nice ornament in this year's Just Cross Stitch Christmas ornament issue. I decided to do it for me, there wasn't a lot of stitching envolved but, the finishing was more difficult then I wanted to do for a give away. It's actually a little box pillow and there is a stitched back to it. I have posted a picture down below this of the back. It really turned out cute but, the next time I will use ribbon for the bow on top.

I am a member of The Stitchers Village and over the Halloween weekend Cheryl Granda was visiting and we could chat on line with her. She designed this free design and I loved it so I put it together as a flat fold. You can see in the next picture that this was the first time I ever did this. I stitched this on a opalecent and it really came out cute.

Here it is, September's card. It is a really pretty purple and green fiber. This is Dinky Dye p.c. #8 Day Dream. The pattern had greek crosses and back stitching. All in all a very pretty card.

Strawberry Band Sampler

This is a little sampler with a lot of cute different stitches. It was really fun to put together and it has a really cute strawberry button in the middle. I got creative with the tassle. I found a pretty tassle that was already made but, decided it wasn't big enough so I added a floss tassle around it. This is Strawberry Band Sampler by Hillside Samplings. An oldie but goodie.

Iowa State Fair Winnings

I picked up my entries yesterday and these two won awards. The bottom one was a class that I took at one of the last Cross Stitch Festivals. This one is by Stoney Creek, the technique was filet and ribbon.

The top one won second place in multiple techniques. There is drawn thread, hardanger and pulled in this piece.

Not sure I will ever enter again but, I've learned never to say never. You just never know.

This is August's Hardanger Card.The fiber is a Threadworx color of maroon, pink and forest green. Very striking against the pink of the card. It's done early which is great. Got a retreat coming up and my favorite holiday, Halloween is coming. I hope to be doing some Halloween ornies again this year.

June and July Hardanger Cards

I got caught up on my monthly cards from Nordic Needle this past weekend. The top is June and the bottom is July, now I am up to date. The picture was taken at dusk so it's a little hard to see the color. June is a very pretty yellow/squash and July is a very pretty grey and puple varigated. I really like this color because of the soft variables. August will be coming in another week .

The retreat that I go to in August has a theme of birds, in particular Poof. Poof is a wild looking peacock sort of bird. Well, this is my version of Poof. The feathers on him actually came from my two African Grey Parrots. The bright red feathers came from Dusty, my Congo and the dark grey feathers came from Abby my Timneh. Lots of fun doing this one.

I was out taking pictures of my flowers today. The top one is a Stargazer lily. The next is some old fashioned pansys I grew from seed this year. The next two are some beautiful day lilys that have a brillant orange color to them. All of my flowers are really pretty this year, we've had abundent water and the temp. has been good to.

I would like to introduce Cricket. He is a 7 week old Chihuahua. I got him yesterday on the 31st. He weighs 1 1/2 lbs. We couldn't decide on a name but, we finally landed on Cricket because he jumps like one. I think him and Sweeny will become wonderful friends as Sweeny is 1/2 Chihuahua and Cricket will be a little smaller probably.

My EGA chapter had their annual meeting this morning. It was very nice with a wonderful brunch of chicken salad with fresh fruit and the most wonderful croisants you ever tasted. We drew names back in December for a needlecase exchange to be finished at this meeting. This is the needlecase that I recieved from the gal that drew my name.

This is the needle case that I am doing two of. This one is for my daughter and I am doing one that will be on white fabric for me. The fibers and design will be the same on both of these. I've got blanket stitches to finish and eyelets and then to cut it out and put it together.

Due to health problems I have not been doing a lot of stitching lately. I finally got busy and got this little needle book done. This is for a give-away for the annual meeting for my EGA chapter that I belong to.

I've been working really hard, I've got a couple of things that are on a deadline. This one is the first and it is due by the end of April. It's going to a gal in England. This is the front, it's a summer Biscornu by Victoria Sampler.

March Card of the Month

This is March's Card of the Month and it took longer then the two previous ones but, I think it was worth it. The colors are so bright and the pattern was so pretty. I can't wait to see what April is going to be.

Nordic Needle Card of the Month

I finished the latest card of the month from Nordic Needle last night. This is February, it has a really pastel Threadworx color. Lots of picots and a dove's eye in the middle. These only take about 6-8 hours and you have such a pretty card with an envelope to put it in when the month is over.

I finally got this one done last night, late. I bought it many years ago and it took me a couple of years of working on it off and on before I got it done. It's done in browns and beiges. It such an old time type look.

Nordic Needle Card of the Month

This is the first in the 12 month series from Nordic Needle. They will send me a new design and card every month. These designs are stitched with just one over dyed thread and while it is hardanger the design is quick. I LOVE IT!!!

A Finish during Retreat

I had this one almost done and got it finished during retreat. This is a monthly series from HeartStrings. This one is for April. It will be put into a Pine Mountain pillow. Quick to stitch and quick to finish.

EGA Retreat 2010

Well, here is the big surprise. Our theme was Queen for the Day after the old TV show of the same name. We had just had a skit and the chairwomen told us that we were about to have a surprise guest. Shortly after in walks Mrs. Iowa to talk to us. In fun she showed us how to wave both to adults and kids, how to stand and to walk. She also had some really funny stories about butt glue. We laughed until we couldn't breath. She showed us her crown and some jewelery that she had recieved from becoming Mrs. Iowa. It was a lot of fun. Next year the theme is Beach Party. No coconut bras, bikinis or nudity!!! This is a theme I can really work with.

EGA Retreat 2010

This was taken to show where the deer stay most of the day. There are all sorts of wild birds out there. In the evening the deer all come up and walk around the building. You can almost touch them. I forgot my camera and by the time I came back with it they had wandered off.
